Ras Mohamed Relaxed

GUIDED TRIP:  RAS MOHAMED RELAXED

In the morning, after breakfast (or the time agreed with you), you will be driven inside the National Park Ras Mohamed.

This is the oldest and most famous of all the parks in Egypt with its exceptional beauty and scientific significance.

It serves to protect the marine life and terrestrial wildlife from the ongoing building at the resort town of Sharm el Sheikh which now stretches along 60 km of the coastline.

Here the desert peninsula edges out into the Red Sea. Its craggy plateau disintegrates into broad sandy beaches or dropping off into brilliant rich coral reefs, home to multitudes of colorful reef fishes, protected turtles, dolphins, rays and many other marine life.

The park is known for its snorkeling and diving opportunities but its also home to the most Northern Grey mangroves in the world and its wadis host a variety of desert plants, rodents, lizards and snakes.

Camels can be found wandering around, feeding and giving birth before they return to their owner and report back to work.

This area is also an important stopover for migrating soaring birds like raptors, white storks, pelicans and falcons.

The islands of Tiran and Sanafir (today Saudi Arabian) are important breeding places for the endemic and threathened White-eyed Gull and Osprey.

We will take you on a guided drive through the park where you will visit the mangrove channel with its amusing colourful Fiddler Crab population.

You will visit The Crack where new life has been discovered, which you will find with your local guide.

You will walk up to the viewpoint, drive around the salt lake and enjoy lots of more stunning views.

You will be given the opportunity to snorkel at The Wall, an extraordinary coral reef teeming with fish.

The reefs are an explosion of colour and life in stark contrast to the seemingly barren desert adjacent to it.

In reality the desert is rich in fauna, but mainly nocturnal, and these eco systems are intrinsically linked and thus must be managed as a single unit.

You will return to our campsite for your fresh prepared lunch (upon reservation only) where afterwards you can enjoy snorkeling as much as you want or just spend another lovely quiet day at the beach.

There are plenty of damages coming with tourism activities that have a negative and long term impact, like people littering or standing on corals, photographers that damage nature just to have a better view or cars going off tracks and destroy seeds and harm plant life.

We find this unacceptable and urge every visitor to be aware that their actions have an impact on these fragile ecosystems.

Therefore everyone should respect the rules set by the National Park, EEAA and CWDS.

Our awareness and first-aid trained staff are happy to explain these to you.

All visitors (except those who have a permission to camp in a designated area) must leave the park before sunset, because until sunrise the park belongs to the animals only.
