These described alternative hikes to Mount Sinai all leave from THE ECO LODGE but it's also possible to start from another point or place in Sinai. No problem!
Trek 1: Hiking from 'Wadi Arbai'in' to Mount Sinai (1 day)
You'll have breakfast at half past six in the morning in the ECO lodge and then go by car to 'Wadi Arbai'in', where you start the trek at half past seven. You pass the stone of Moses (Hagar Moussa), the Monastery of the 40 martyrs and the HYRAX FARM OF RAMADAN where we take a break.

From this point there are 3 ways to reach the summit of Mount Sinai:
- To go from Wadi Ferrah to Kinesa;
- To walk walk around the massif of Mount Sinai to the camel path, where you descend into the basin of Elijah;
- To climb directly to the basin of Elijah.
Together with your guide you will decide which way is best at that point.
At the basin of Elijah you use the lunch and take a break. Around the basin of Elijah, you can enjoy beautiful view points as 'Farsh Loz', 'Farsh Safsafa' and 'Kinest Al Hmar'.
You'll leave 2 hours before sunset to the top. At that time of the day there are few people, so the sunset will be a wonderful experience.
After sunset you need about 1 hour to descend on the camel path, so take along a torch or headlamp (or we can lend you one).
We go back by car from the monastery of Saint Katherine to the ECO lodge where you can freshen up and enjoy your dinner.
Price p.p.: 1 pers. € 64 - 2 pers. € 32 - 3 pers. € 22 - 4 pers. or more > € 20
Including: Drive by 4x4 from and to the ECO lodge, your local guide and the mandatory guide for Mount Sinai.
Excluding: Any purchase of snacks at cafetaria along the route.
Trek 2: Hiking from 'Wadi Al Deir' to Mount Sinai (1 day)
You leave early morning from 'Wadi Al Deir' at Aaron's Hill ('Nabi Harun') and follow the path along the monastery of Saint Katherine to the camel path until you reach the basin of Elijah, where you take the stairs to the summit of Mount Sinai.
At the summit you enjoy the view and the sunset. After sunset you return (with the help of your torch or head torch) to the basin of Elijah, where you descend on the Steps of Repentance.
The length of this trip is about 7 kilometres and you certainly will need 5 to 7 hours, depending on your condition. You will follow the least strenuous route but it is often rocky terrain so you have to mind your step (especially in the descent).< span>

Trek 3: Camel trek to Mount Sinai (1 day/night)
We leave after lunch, in the afternoon (at least 2 hours before sunset) from the ECO lodge by camel. We arrive at the Monastery of St. Katherine and continue on the camel path to the basin of Elijah, where we camp. There will be sufficient time to walk around the basin and to watch the sun set. You dine in the camp and dream away by the campfire under the stars on Holy ground.
One hour and a half before dawn you get up and walk the last part of the stairs to the summit of the Holy mountain to witness the sunrise. After sunrise you do not descend with the crowd of tourists to the monastery of St. Katherine, but instead you go for breakfast to the camp. After all the tourists have left, you can descend calmly down the steps of repentance.
